This slogan is extremely popular. Both chicken lovers and the not so much (though I am yet to see a fried chicken hater) know this is from KFC, the fast food chain started by Colonel Sanders.

About KFC

Colonel Harland Sanders started KFC in 1952, where the Colonel started letting people open franchises in Kentucky, USA. In 1971, Hublein Inc. took over the franchise and began expanding franchising opportunities worldwide, including the Philippines.

KFC gave its sole franchise to Ms. Manuel Agustine, under the company Quick Service Restaurants, which became in charge of distributing restaurant franchises in the Philippines.

About Yum! Restaurants International

KFC is currently being held by Yum! Restaurants International, which focuses on multi-branding. This means that if you are granted a franchise by Yum! Restaurants International, you also get to start other brands such as Pizza Hut and Taco Bell as well.

Cost of YRI Investment

YRI Franchise candidates are required to have at least 1.5M USD in capital, and about half of those must be liquid assets.

In addition to the cost of initial investment, YRI also charges 5% of gross revenues for royalty and advertising.

How to Franchise KFC: A Summary

  1. Initial Application. An interested franchisee must fill up the franchise information request form through the franchise request application. After the applicant is chosen to continue, a representative will contact the interested party. A more comprehensive and detailed franchise application form is then filled up.
  2. Evaluation. The representative will then review your comprehensive application and a background interview shall be conducted. A meeting with the YRI team will also be set in this step, for further applicant screening.
  3. Approval. After passing the evaluation, market development zone and site selection process shall take place. After everything is approved, the applicant shall be qualified as a franchisee and training shall start.
